- Quiet, yet passionate. Cold, yet affectionate when intimate.
- Ensign de la Torre and Lieutenant Maxwell shared a love interest when they both served on the USS Trinculo. After the Altair incident the relation became colder and Maxwell ended up loosing interest in her. However, following Maxwell's transfer to the Excelsior, he recommended the young officer for transfer to the Command Division as Flight Control Officer because he considered her the "best pilot he had served with".
- Being reticent at first, de la Torre ended up applying for Banzai Squadron because "she wanted a challenge".

- Cool and witty. Diggs is an easy-going guy.
- As Maxwell, he too was born in a starbase, and so both have shared a very similar childhood. Such common experiences has helped to bring the two officers closer.
- His good humour and sarcastic demeanor have proved to be an excellent compliment to Maxwell's personality, and his jokes often help bring the CONN staff together.
- Started the now traditional friday-night poker games in Maxwell's quarters when he discovered that Robert was an avid player too.
